The region’s residents should be invited to be part of these conversations, for obvious reasons.
That’s why we were heartened to hear new Victor Valley College Board President Joseph W. Brady say he wanted VVC to lead the way in holding or organizing such summits. We believe our city leaders should take him up on the offer and plan the prison summit for VVC as soon as possible.
It may or may not be too late for such a summit to make a difference in the case of Adelanto’s approval Wednesday night of the proposed jail to house Los Angeles County inmates, but the conversation needs to be started before other prison proposals pop up in the High Desert.
