HESPERIA: Footage shows moment helpless dog named Mia was dragged by its NECK through an animal shelter by cruel worker

Footage shows moment helpless dog named Mia was dragged by its NECK through an animal shelter by cruel worker

Animals shelter employees are supposed to show compassion towards the pets they rescue, but a new video shows the cruel moment a worker dragged a dog by its neck at a facility in southern California.
The heartbreaking video shot at the Hesperia Animal Control center has sparked outrage, and now the mayor of the town has scheduled an emergency city council meeting to address citizens' concerns.
Tracie Carpenter told NBC Los Angeles that the dog shown struggling in the video is her family's pet named Mia.
The 5- or 6-year-old dog escaped from their front yard on February 12, and was eventually picked up by animal control.
The Carpenters were relieved when they found out Mia was at animal control, and agreed to let the agency spay their dog.
'They insisted on spaying her. We agreed, paid the almost $300 fees and picked her up at about 2:30 p.m. on the 13th,' Carpenter said.
It wasn't until a friend showed her a video on Facebook that she realized the painful treatment her dog received at the shelter.
The video shows a female worker in blue scrubs, dragging Mia by a leash while the dog refuses to walk. The worker holds the leash behind her back, almost as if she's pulling a wagon, down the hallway and into another room while two other people stand in the foreground.
