Parents, Teachers Unite for Contract

Parents and teachers flooded the Adelanto School District chamber demanding change, accountability and contract for teachers. While the school board listened intently, some sneered at the public and their approach to this debate. The meeting was tense, but many community members had chance to speak about the issues they cared about. Parents expressed concerns over classes not having a full time teacher, and were angered that substitute teachers have been placed in a revolving door scenario created by the administration. Some parents were also frustrated to know that supplies were not being purchased by the district, causing resources to dwindle to minimums.

The district has asked for patience and reiterated that there is a deal coming down soon. Many in the room seemed cynical by the messages delivered from the board when they had a chance to speak. Parents repeatedly threaten to keep their children home if a teacher strike were to take place.
