The end result can add up to a few dollars for the city and an even greater benefit for businesses in the community. The city charges from $100 to $250 for a filming permit. Riley also said there are daily rates charged to film at certain locations like the abandoned Barstow Hospital.

VICTORVILLE — A detainee at the Adelanto Detention Center died early Tuesday after he attempted to commit suicide last week, authorities said Wednesday, prompting calls for an independent investigation from an immigration advocacy group. Osmar Epifanio Gonzalez-Gadba, 32, died early Tuesday at Victor Valley Global Medical Center, six days after he attempted to commit suicide. Adelanto compressor station, will be totally rebuilt in a $193.3 million remodel - Sempra's SoCalGas Seeks New $855M North-South Pipeline Link

California 's energy regulatory process is grinding along on a proposal by Sempra Energy's Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas) to upgrade its extensive in-state natural gas transmission system with a rebuilt compressor station and a new 65-mile, 36-inch diameter north-south pipeline link. The project carries an $855.5 million price tag with a 2019 target for being in service, and it could eventually influence price differentials among the different receipt points on the SoCalGas transmission system. The project would provide a second transmission link into the southern end of the state, involving SoCalGas' affiliated utility, San Diego Gas and Electric Co. (SDG&E). Currently there is only one link between SoCalGas and SDG&E, which provide the gas utility service to most of the southern half of California.

Adelanto eyes medical marijuana - Council instructs city attorney to draft 2 ordinances

ADELANTO — Giving serious consideration to lifting a citywide ban, the City Council directed City Attorney Todd Litfin late Tuesday to draft two medical marijuana ordinances, one related to research and cultivation and the other pertaining to retail sales. But while mulling a major shift for a city that outlawed pot dispensaries in 2010, city leaders also acknowledged concerns over stigma, impact on youth and possible criminal activity. After a lengthy discussion, Mayor Rich Kerr insisted the draft plans be split to separate the scientific element of medical marijuana from the more controversial dispensaries, pointing to the contrast in the issues. Litfin will bring the plans back to the Council in two weeks, but the ordinances would likely first need to be heard by the Planning Commission.
